You should be able to unlock it ONLY after you have unlocked it in PvE.

Why do you assume the answer would be no? I play PVP exclusively, and I couldn't care less about fame or how it's acquired.

You guys obviously care, or you wouldn't be complaining about the idea of PVP characters getting 15k armor.

"Playing" PVE does not get you Fissure armor.
Rather, farming and having to spam in tradechats 100 billion times to sell your items may get you it in a million years from now. I may be exaggerating a bit, but not by much.
The point is that there is no way that "playing" PVE normally will acquire Fissure armor, and grinding in PVE for it is not fun - and the devs said everything in the game is supposed to be fun first and foremost.
Unlocking Fissure armor in PVP = fun! Therefore it should be an option.

untrue, i know a few people (not many, but a few) who got fow armor almost exclusively from farming.
a pvp char requires ZERO work to level up; the only work required is the work involved in unlocking skills, fissure armor exists to show someones status in the pve world, and as such it does not belong in pvp. pvp chars are duel-only, they exist soley for the purpose of pvp; the skills, the stats, the build, etc, a pve char is often just as important asctetically as it is for killing purposes, 15k armor and fissure armor are to show the dedication involved to advance a pve char to that level of equipment; think it is an easyjob or requires no work? then you shouldnt have a problem getting it to begin with.

armor is just about the only thing that distingiushs (pardon the spelling) pvp peeps from pve peeps. I5k armor is what makes pvp fun to play as your pve char because you get to brag and the pvpers think ur the shizz since you've got it. If you dont have the armor, why would you want to waste time playing as a pve char when you could simply make the best char in about 10 seconds? also since they opened the storage in pvp, you can just give ur awsome items to ur pvp chars. I ask you..?

PvP is about stats, scores, and winning... fassion is secondary and usually reserved for heavy PvE-only investments.
Therefore, I have to concur with the majority of the replies and vote nay.

It took me about 150 hours of farming/running to get my current 105 shards and 85 ectos. I will tell you this though: it was fun. Yes, it was fun. I DO enjoy farming, even soloing (*gasp!*). I think that FoW armor is great the way it is - I truly feel that I will be rewarded for my time, whereas if I just unlocked it through PvP, it would just be common. Anyway, ANet will not make FoW armor (or even 15k most likely) unlockable because it is supposed to be special.
Just my 2 cents.

What would you say to allowing the unlocking of 15k armor and some weapon types, but not Fissure armor or the fancier weapons? (chaos axes, storm bows, etc.)

You pvp have your fame and ranking and ladder and such. pve has 15k armor and fow.
So no. If you want 15k armor, roll a pve char and get it. It takes too long? Too bad. That's what you get for going for it.

thats because you guys want all of the benifit for half the work (if you can even call playing in the pvp arenas "work;" its a chocolate sprinkled cupcake compared to trading for hours on end).
even if you can only unlock it from pve, you could get 1 char with fissure, unlock it, then get 3 more pvp chars of the same class, all with fissure, for absolutly free; X3 1.5 million gold armors, for free. you can NOT repeat this act in PVE, and with good reason; it would essentially make FoW meaningless in terms of the difficulty/cost in aquiring it; which is the SOLE reason its held in higher regard than other armors.
if you dont see whats wrong with that, god help you.

I think not. Someone who plays PvP exclusively does not deserve access to everything in the game, same as someone who only plays PvE. If you play some of both, and want 15k or FoW armor in PvP, bring your PvE character.

the different armors in PVE actually keep the players from leaving the game by giving them a goal, like the greens, ppl may want to collect them all and for the armor, ppl want to get them from repeating farming and trading, without those experience players' trading and farming, the game is end...
more weapon in pvp is non-sense...... in pvp there are already godly weapon(except the look) but actualy you can transfer your pve weapons to pvp char (as what i did offen)....the 15K armor and more weapons types in pve is actually used to keep the players in pve.....
on the other hand, if you just get all the godly weapons and armor in pvp...that would be boring, coz it make no differents from now....all other players will have them...so nothing change
unlock them from faction points or rank would be possible....but i think pvp is aim at having fun from killing other players (not npc) and playing teamwork, so how ppl looks like in pvp may not be a problem for Anet, coz thats what they want~~to keep players in pve and providing different experiences for the pvp players
i do agree with Akhilleus's, pve players pay a lot more for what they got, we need to fight, we need to trade , we need to farm, we need to run and many others to collect the money, and in pvp you just need to fight!!

So... you don't want pvp characters to get 15k armor because they wouldn't have to work for it as much as pve characters... but you also don't want pve characters to get it more easily.
"I don't want this, so you can't have it either." Man. I knew there would be opposition to the idea of pvp armors, but man...

The 15k and FoW armors really should be for PvE only, it gives the PvE characters something to show off.
I do agree that PvP people should have something to work towards after they've unlocked all the currently existing stuff though...

What they can be working towards is perhaps holding tombs for 20 rounds at a go.

Come on man, this is a ridiculous post. Pvp peeps complain if they see a pve charac in their arena, then why should we allow them to have the one thing that sets the pve from pvp? If u do find the armour boring, try this. Go to ur gw start up screen, create new rpg charcter. Its that easy. Play the game thru, get ascended, explore uw/fow with both crappy and good groups and then get ur armour that way. Its much more satisfying then simply unlocking.
If i were to be resonable and set a reasonable amount of faction for the unlocking to start, it would be at
For 15k
60k Faction - Chest
20k Faction- boots, hands (each)
30k Faction- head
50k Faction- leggings
For FoW armour
110k Faction - Chest
40k Faction- boots, hands
60k Faction- head
90k Faction- leggings
per class. And you wouldnt be able to use a warrior armour on anyone other than a warrior. If you think that i'm not being reasonable, think about how long it takes for 1 fow armour to be made for one character. And if u unlock it for pvp, u can have an enless supply of fow armour. So naturally the cost must be higher.
I suppose only then would it ever be equal in a sense to the effort that the pve guys go thru to get their fow stuff.
